This program may be the first benchmark for the memory-interface of
Atari computers. What does it do? Well, MEMSPEED checks the available
bandwidth of the 1st level cache, the 2nd level cache and the mainboard
memory. This is done for ST and TT memory areas as far as they are available
and if there is enough free mem. This program has neither a GUI nor other
special features. But since this was done one day before the ProTOS '94 there
was no time for such gimmicks.
This software is postcardware. If you like it please send me a postcard. If
there is enough interest in this little proggy I will write an enhanced version
with GUI and special features like bandwidth checking of graphics cards,
checking of cache sizes ...
One last thing: This program checks the bandwidth you can really use e.g.
a 68030 can access the memory in 2 cycles (non burst) but in reality it does
50MB/s (1st level cache, 50MHz) instead of the awaited 100MB/s.
